INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Intellectual Property
We provide comprehensive intellectual-property counsel tailored to the Cambodian market. Trademark and related rights are administered by the Department of Intellectual Property under the Ministry of Commerce pursuant to the Law on Marks, Trade Names and Acts of Unfair Competition. Patents, utility models and industrial designs fall under the Department of Industrial Property (Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation) under the 2003 Law on Patents, Utility Model Certificates and Industrial Designs. Copyright protection arises automatically but registration and enforcement strategies remain important. We assist clients with clearance searches, multi-class trademark filings (Cambodia is a Madrid Protocol member), patent and design applications, portfolio management, licensing, and coordinated regional protection strategies. For companies entering or expanding in Cambodia—particularly those from China and the broader region—early and accurate IP registration is essential to deter counterfeiting and secure commercial value.
